SIA Top Up Refresher Training + First Aid in Liverpool
SIA Refresher Training Liverpool combines your Top-Up refresher and your Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certificate in a single visit, covering both the Door Supervisor and Security Guard pathways. Renewing your SIA licence shouldn’t mean booking separate courses at separate venues, and here you handle it all in one place. Delivered in Liverpool for officers across Merseyside and the wider North West, the course leaves you renewal-ready and fully in line with the latest SIA requirements.
Why a Refresher Is Now Required to Renew
Since 1 April 2025, the Security Industry Authority (SIA) has required a current refresher qualification before any Door Supervisor or Security Guard licence can be renewed. The goal is to keep every officer in Liverpool and across the UK sharp on search procedures, safeguarding, counter-terrorism awareness and physical intervention.
You’ll need this course if:
- You’re renewing a Door Supervisor or Security Guard licence on or after 1 April 2025.
- You qualified before April 2021 and haven’t completed your Top-Up yet (the original cut-off was 31 March 2025).
- You’re moving between licence types, such as Security Guard to Door Supervisor.
Booking early keeps your licence valid with no gap in your right to work.
You Need First Aid (EFAW) in Place First
The SIA won’t process your renewal unless you also hold a valid EFAW certificate, or an accepted equivalent, alongside your refresher. This Liverpool course bundles the two together, so instead of chasing a separate first aid provider you finish with both certificates and one clear route to renewal.

How First Aid Training Changed in October 2024
On 1 October 2024, EFAW training was updated to focus on the skills that save lives in the first critical minutes: controlling life-threatening bleeding, and opening and maintaining a clear airway. This brings the qualification in line with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) standards, so what you practise in Liverpool reflects current best practice.
Add the Free ACT Counter-Terrorism Course
We also encourage every candidate to complete the free ACT (Action Counters Terrorism) e-learning from ProtectUK, a short online step separate from the course:
