Who needs to complete the SIA Door Supervisor Refresher Course?

Anyone holding a Door Supervisor Licence that expires on or after 1 April 2025 must complete the mandatory refresher training before applying for licence renewal. This is a legal requirement introduced by the SIA to ensure all operatives meet current industry standards.

To enrol on the SIA Door Supervisor Refresher Training, you must:

  • Hold a valid or recently expired SIA Door Supervisor Licence

  • Have a valid Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certificate or equivalent first aid qualification

First aid training must be completed before attending the refresher course.

The refresher course typically runs for 2 days training. It includes updated theoretical content, practical assessments, and a final exam based on current SIA standards.

If you fail to complete the mandatory SIA refresher course, you will not be able to renew your licence. This means you will be legally restricted from working in any SIA-licenced security role until you complete the training and renew your licence.

SIA Security Guard Refresher Training FAQ's

Who is required to complete the SIA Security Guard Refresher Training?

If you currently hold an SIA Security Guard Licence and it’s due to expire on or after 1st April 2025, you are legally required to complete the refresher (Top-Up) training before applying for renewal. This ensures you meet the updated industry standards set by the SIA.

To join the SIA Security Guard Refresher Course, you must:

  • Have a valid or recently expired SIA licence

  • Hold a current Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certificate or an accepted equivalent

Please note, your first aid qualification must be in place before attending the refresher training.

The course is a 1-day classroom-based training, running from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and costs £200. It includes both theoretical and practical assessments to meet the latest SIA renewal requirements.

This refresher course focuses on critical skills and responsibilities of a licenced security officer, including:

LO1: How to conduct safe and effective searches
LO2: Supporting vulnerable people on-site
LO3: Responding to terror threats and emergencies

Who should take the SIA Door Supervisor Course?

Who can take the SIA CCTV Operator course?

This course is designed for anyone who wants to become a licenced CCTV Operator under the SIA (Security Industry Authority). It’s ideal if you’re planning to work in:

  • Corporate buildings, warehouses, or office environments
  • Event venues or public space surveillance roles

The course includes two essential units:

Unit 1: Introduction to the private security industry, legal responsibilities, and the role of a CCTV operator.
Unit 2: Practical use of CCTV systems, handling and storing data under GDPR, incident management, and reporting procedures.

The average hourly rate for CCTV operators in the UK ranges from £15 to £20 per hour, depending on the employer, experience, and location. In London and other high-demand areas, rates can be even higher.

Total cost is £250.

You’ll typically receive your exam results within 10 to 14 working days after your course ends. We’ll notify you by email and SMS as soon as your certificate is ready.

Who is this Emergency First Aid course for?

Yes, a First Aid certificate is required to apply for the SIA Licence. Once you pass the course, your details will be submitted to the SIA.

Your examination results will be available online within 10-14 working days after the exam. You will receive a notification via SMS and email once they are ready to view. In the unlikely event of a delay, we will keep you updated.

No. The course fee only covers the training. Licence application fees must be paid separately on the SIA website.

Certificates are usually issued within 2 weeks of course completion. However:

  • AET Level 3 certificates may take up to 3 months

Your qualification will also be uploaded to your SIA portal, so you don’t need a physical certificate to apply for your licence.
