SIA Door Supervisor Refresher Training Ilford

SIA Update: Mandatory Refresher Training for Licence Renewal

Starting 1 April 2025, individuals holding an SIA Door Supervisor must complete a refresher qualification before applying for renewal. SIA Door Supervisor Refresher Training Ilford is available for all licenced Door Supervisors who need to renew their licence. From April 2025 onwards, completion of the refresher qualification will be a mandatory requirement for renewal.

Until 31 March 2025, Door Supervisors holding pre-April 2021 qualifications must complete either top-up training or the refresher course before renewing their licence.

First Aid Requirement

Before enrolling in the refresher course, candidates must hold a valid Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification or equivalent. Both first aid training and the refresher course must be completed before applying for SIA licence renewal. In light of the SIA’s updated licencing requirements, below is an overview of the new refresher training content:

SIA Refresher Training for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry:

1: Key Responsibilities of a Door Supervisor (Refresher):
  • Conducting effective search procedures.
  • Understanding how to safeguard vulnerable individuals.
  • Identifying terror threats and the role of security personnel in managing them.
  • Preventing incidents of spiking in venues.
Assessment for Unit 1:
  • Multiple-choice exam (35 questions, 55 minutes)
  • Practical assessment on conducting searches
2: Practical Application of Physical Intervention Skills (Refresher):
  • Understanding the risks and implications of physical interventions.
  • Learning techniques to minimise risks when handling interventions.
  • Developing self-protection skills to ensure personal and public safety.
  • Applying non-pain compliant techniques for safe holding and escorting.
Assessment for Unit 2:
  • Multiple-choice exam (30 questions, 45 minutes)
  • Practical assessment of intervention techniques
  • Oral Q&A session

Options for Door Supervisors:

If you currently hold an SIA Door Supervisor Licence, you can choose one of the following options:
✅ Complete the door supervisor refresher course and renew your licence.
✅ Take the security guard refresher course and transition to a security guard licence.

First Aid Training Requirement (Effective 1 October 2024)

From 1 October 2024, Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) training must include critical life-saving techniques, such as:
✅ Managing life-threatening bleeding.
✅ Ensuring airway clearance.

This requirement aligns with updated SIA and Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulations
